SPRING CLEANING

Instead of just the usual dusting, scrubbing and polishing that makes up our usual spring cleaning ritual, this year we are planning on turning our house into a lean, mean, organized machine. We started out by tearing everything out of every closet and separating it into piles of; either junk that we were going to get rid of or stuff that we still had a use for. Then I ran out to the home improvement store and picked up some ready to install closet organizers. They were nothing fancy, just the cheap white wire type with shelves and hooks. Once I got all of the organizers installed, which was pretty much a breeze and took virtually no time at all, we sorted the piles to find out what stuff needed to go into which closet. My wife tackled the upstairs, which included the hall closet and the bathroom and bedroom closets and I was responsible for the first floor with the pantry, a bathroom, two small hall closets and the coat closet. This was the part of the day that took a while, because nothing was where it belonged to begin with and we wanted to do this project properly so we wouldn’t have to do it again. We saw each other on a half hour dinner break and we finally finished right before bed time, but if we stick to it – it will certainly have been worth it.
