RETIREMENT HOME

Grandmother Wilson, the family matriarch, although still very active mentally, was having a hard time maneuvering around in her old home. It was a multi-level home and the stairs were just too hard for her to climb any more. She didn’t like driving anymore and her sewing club and arts and crafts club were too far to walk. Her legs just weren’t letting her do what she wanted to do anymore. Every morning she would gather together everything she thought she might need for the whole day. If she forgot something, it was too much of an effort to go back upstairs to retrieve it. Since she was into arts and crafts there were plenty of things she would leave upstairs that she remembered too late. She spoke to her friends at her church club about relocating to a more convenient place. She didn’t want to move far from her home in Decatur as she has a lot of friends here. One lady told her that her sister just moved to a retirement community. They have so much to offer. They even have regularly scheduled activities and social events. Grandmother Wilson was excited about retirement in Decatur that she couldn’t wait to get home and get more information on it.
