No sooner than I find out that I have to transfer than I learn that the entire company is going to be moving. It was a closely held secret. Nobody knew. But the word broke when a number of business relocation companies began showing up. The way we all found out was simple. They signed the visitor's log in the lobby. Tommy did a search and found out that there were at least four companies called in for bid. It was probably early in the process, we decided. The company must have just decided to move. A short time later everybody received a memo about the company moving. Then the reality hit. Not everybody would or could move with the company. This became big news in town. The local paper got a hold of the memo and soon it was page one. We are the biggest employer in town, so this was big news. Soon a number of town officials were coming in. I saw the mayor and at least two trustees. This was going to be a good holiday season, but with this news there was not too much happiness on Main Street. Everybody we ran into is going to be effected by the move. Carla and I feel badly. We almost feel as if we are getting off a sinking ship.
