My mother told me that she would be gone for two days and that I would have to stay home by myself; she told me what food I should heat up, reminded me to go to bed on time, and told me to remember to set my alarm in the morning. I asked her where she was going for two days and she told me that she was driving to an eye doctor’s office so that she could have Lasik eye surgery performed on her eyes. I asked my mom: “What is Lasik?” and she told me that it is a type of surgery done to your eyes with lasers that permanently restores your eye sight. My mother has worn her glasses for as long as I can remember and she told me that her vision started getting worse as she aged; it was time to repair this with Lasik eye surgery. I called my friend, Max, and told him that my mom would be gone for two days to get Lasik eye surgery and asked if he wanted to come over and hang out so that I would not be bored. He asked me: “What is Lasik?” and I told him just what my mom had told me. I am surprised that more people do not know what Lasik is considering what a great procedure it is.
